Part 2: setting the bar.

Small goals for this year that I hope to reach.

21. Making the most out of my Y membership and work out 3-5 times a week. I generally feel better emotionally and physically after I'm done. It's just getting there. Plus the child care is worth it's weight in, well, weights!
22. Eating cleaner.
23. Keep regular hair appointments. I don't have to look frumpy, it's a choice. I feel better when I look better, sad but that's the way it goes. I've told my hair stylist much to her dismay, I was the first one to start the ombré craze! "Google it, it's worth a Google"...(if your not sure what that is).
24. Find a good home manicure that works. Holla, Pinterest. Painted nails always feel like a treat but never last and the OCD in me doesn't like the chip polish. It's a curse.
25. Start and learn Yoga.
26. Stay in touch better with all my NEAR and LONG distance besties. Stop being a hermit.
27. Start a blog and keep up with it!
28. Spend more one on one time with my kids. Maybe date nights.
29. Let go of the small stuff and don't sweat it when I do!
30. Learn to find a happy balance-Easier said then done!
31. Try new recipes.
32. Learn to sew. (Break out the sewing machine that I got the Christmas before last). Simple projects.
33. Read more, anything. Enlighten my horizons.
34. Start a garden. This may be a huge challenge as I tend to over water plants or forget to water them all together!
35. Have a silver-lining attitude. Working on it!

My work is cut out for me but not impossible. I'm positive these are things I can work on and improve over time. Simply. It is kind of nice to have it written all down. I'm a list person...I have a touch of OCD. I guess I should have added working on that too. Oh well, baby steps with everything, right ?!

35 for 35

I thought it would be fun to make a list of 35 things about myself or accomplishments I've reached over the years. I'd also like to set some goals that I can do over the course of this upcoming year until my next birthday. I think I'll do these in two parts. Part 1 about me and part 2, my goals. These aren't going to be striving to join the next Olympics all women's volley ball team or writing a New York Times best seller. Think smaller, way smaller.

These will be obtainable little tweaks and healthy changes that I can bring into my routine. I am looking to get MYSELF physically and emotionally set. I want be the mom, wife, daughter, sister and friend that I know I can be. Simply. "If momma ain't happy, then nobody's happy". Truer words have never been spoken!
Here we go...

Part 1-about me
1. 1 have 4 sisters and 1 brother.
2. I have worn glasses since I was 8.
3. I survived the 80's permed hair.
4. I didn't finish college and still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.
5. My grandmother was my biggest influence. I miss her. Every. Single. Day.
6. I have lived in Texas for 12 years, longer than any other place I've lived before.
7. I have been married going on 12 years this June to one of the smartest and sweetest men I know. Married at age 23 by choice, and it still works!
8. I have 4 kids. 3 boys (ages 10, 8, 5 and) 9.5 month angel-baby girl.
9. I have a small etsy and hair bow addiction due to said angel-baby girl.
10. I have a 4 yr old blue merle Great Dane name Ella Blue, who's birthday is one day before mine.
11. I LOVE the beach.
12. I love fresh flowers. I would splurge on them every week if I could.
13. Favorite drink is a greyhound. Grapefruit juice and vodka
14. I (used) to love to sing. I was in some kind of chorus from first grade to college.
15. I love all vintage things: jewelry, clothes, music, plates, furniture. I love the classier-simpler times.
16. I love to laugh. The stupider the better. My husband makes me laugh so hard all the time.
17. Favorite shows are Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm and Boardwalk Empire. Basically, I just watch HBO.
18. I really want the biggest French Refrigerator that I can find. Hence no french refrigerator. We never have enough room unless we have no food.
19. Favorite Food is Mexican.
20. I collect Pottery, mainly Seagrove, North Carolina pottery.

Sinfully interesting, I know!

Hello is anyone out there?

I'm throwing my hat out into the ring or the dark hole of the Internet obsess and starting a blog. I just turned 35 and figured that now is the best time to start chronicling my life one moment at a time. I think when all the craziness settles, it would be nice to take a look back and see what made up our family's year and what took place in between all the special holidays, birthdays and vacations. To remember some of the little things... funny happenings with the kids, a new recipe that EVERYONE enjoyed or small craft project that turned out, kind of awesome. I'd like to highlight a few DYI projects that I and my loving hubby pulled off around the house since something is always in the works. Mix in some holiday decorating, entertaining and sprinkle in a few crafts here and there and you have yourself a year! Sounds SimpIe, don't it?!

I don't claim to have a rose colored life filled with sunshine AND rainbows topped with two big heaping spoonfuls of sugar. In truth, it's a little messy, like unwashed cereal bowls and spit up on your shirt until 11 am. Glamorous as in no make-up, hair in a pony tail and a wardrobe of knits as I tackle the endless cycles of laundry and grocery store runs while trying to keep dinner from becoming as tedious as fish sticks or hot dogs with mac and cheese for dinner on a Wednesday night. Sometimes though, fish sticks and mac and cheese are just what we need and I'm ok with that too. I don't claim to be perfect. I'm not a perfect mother, wife, friend or even speller. I'm just trying my best to get through it all one day at a time while hopefully making it as special as I can along the way for my family- simply.
